I've seen a lot of posts on this site that reference the stock colors for the K75S and there popularity. My 1994 K75S is yellow (Dakar I think but no paint code tag). This color does not show as available on the K's on any paint chart I've looked up. Any ideas on the rarity of this color on the K75's? :scratch

I haven't looked at the paperwork on it in years, but as I recall, the info sent from BMWNA to the dealers said that they brought in 50 Dakar Yellow K75s's.

So far, I've seen four Dakar Yellow K75Ss including yours. They have all been '94s. :thumb

Bought mine last October in Georgia. There's another one very close to mine on IBMWR right now, too. I keep hearing 300 made, 50 imported into the US.

Mine won't be this color for too long, though. I'm planning to do a tupperware repaint and new tires as soon as I can afford it (and decide on the new color scheme).

Although my wife likes it as is this shade of yellow isn't my cup of tea.

Why are you going to repaint it??? That color looks quite nice and color matches luggage to boot!

Looking for color repaint suggestions -It's a tough decision.

Dakar Yellow was a BMW car (you know, one of those four wheel things that are always in the way) color requested by BMWNA's motorcycle VP in those days. If you want to match it, visist a local auto paint store.

Like I said, it's not quite my cup of tea. Perhaps if it was a more intense yellow and the original owner hadn't done such a half-assed touch up job on the scuffs...:bolt

Am leaning towards a slightly sage-charcoal metallic grey or titaniumi-ish silver grey at the moment---but haven't ruled out a deep candy-apple red metallic or blazing orange, either. You might want to check out JALAIMO's thread regarding pulling the trigger on a K-bike; I think I posted some photos of bikes with some great colors there in response to his repainting comments. (Might have been another thread regarding matte finish paint, though).

Decisions, decisions.:dunno

Also hope to powdercoat the 3-spoke wheels black, too. I want to trick this baby out (but in a tasteful, elegant way).:laugh

Just doublechecked---see the Matte Paint Finish thread for those photos I referred to above.
