My '02 K12RS turned 86,000 miles today.

On the way home I noticed that my gas gauge was almost empty after only 60 miles of moderate riding. Pulled into a service station and a saw fuel spaying out of the right side of the bike, just above the oil filler.

There is a hose connected to two black plastic clamps. One of the clamps contains a tan plastic hose (that broke off).

As you can tell from my description I'm not mechanicly gifted.

Called AAA and had the bike towned home.

What went wrong and how expensive to fix?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Wow!!
That is a lot of miles!!
How do you spell enthusiast?
Have you checked to see whether this is a warranty repair or a recall?I seem to remember there was an acknowledged problem with gas fittings on some late model bikes .

Sales guy let me park the bike inside, but the service guys will not be back till Monday. This shop works Mon. - Fri.

I believe that the quick disconnects had an O ring that was recalled. I believe that was done, or I should say I was told it was done.

This may be warranty, goodwill or my nickle. Just don't know right now. Not even sure what is the cause of the problem.
