I finally have my dream bike, but... I have a 2001 R1150GS. Bought with about 7000 miles on it. It runs well but I am noticing the surging thing going on. I am trying to whistle in the dark and hope I am imagining things but I'm afraid to no avail. My dream bike isn't running right. I have read on the forums about a "Techlusion 83I EFT Box" whatever the hell this is I don't know but do you all think it will settle my problem and my nerves?

I flew out to by the bike used, jumped on and rode away back home. Not even aware of this problem. Naive I guess, I figured I was buying another one of the finest motorcycles made and would have no problem.

I do hope that something can be done.

Thank you all for any MORE advice on the issue.

Before you go spending your money on stuff like a Techlusion, go here (http://www.advrider.com/Wisdom/Wisdom.html) and download the OVAD and Throttle Body Adjustment PDFs. You'll find that giving your bike a careful, careful valve adjustment and throttle body sync will alleviate your surging issues.

We've had three oilheads in our house and I've found that state of tune has a huge impact on surging. Careful tuning (more careful than most dealers are willing to provide) will help.

It's not that hard to do, though you may need to buy some tools.

hi, i don't have an answer for you, since i'm in the same boat. the 97 rs i purchased on ebay is wonderful, i love everything about it except for the SURGING! Kbasa gave me the same advice and i'm sure it's sound, except i don't have the time to do it myself ( i have 3 children, 6,5,and 1 in diapers, a wife in grad school, so the few hours i get to myself i would rather spend riding) so i'm going to have my mechanic do it. he's a former bmw wrench (lindners in new canaan before they went out of biz) who has his own all brand shop in stamford. he's reasonable and he's good. if i tell him to do a careful, careful job on the valves and tb synch he will. the drawback is he's a one man operation and gets pretty busy. unfortunatley, we don't have many choices if we don't do it ourself, there's cliffs in danbury and canton bmw and that's about it . let me know if what you do. or if you know any one else qualified in ct. i'm about a 1/2 hour away in orange, i also am disappointed since i believe these are the best m/cs made, my 77 r75 has 102,000 miles on it! let me know if you know anything about either of the dealerships, i can't believe that the only way to get my bike running properly is to do it myself! something is seriously wrong if thats the case. let me know how you make out. see you on the road smitty :dunno
