Just transplanted from Chicago to NW Indiana and this past Wed. took a ride up to Saugatuk MI w/some Triumph buddies via South Bend. Stopped by the dealership to check-it out and found out that Aug. 2 they will cease to exist. I bought 8 quarts of synthetic for a little over the price of 4. Anyhow, I couldn't get an answer to why the dealership is closing. Even the new owner of a 2 week old bike was not informed at the time of purchase. :dunno
Would anyone here know the answer?

Looks like they're getting into the lampshade business.
Bummer.

Thats not the first dealership to close in Northwest Indiana. Does anyone remember Crossroads BMW in Mishawaka? It must be a cursed area or something for BMW dealers.

The South Bend folks were good people, with a nice store. Sorry to see them go.

They are closing for the same reason most places close, not making money. The guys gave it a good try for three years, but at some point you gotta make the decision. They even tried to sell the dealership.
Tomorrow is going to be a sad day. I have watched the shop go from a start up to a place I would hang out at with Mario, Mike, Mike, Steve, and Kurt.
I do know that BMW NA is trying to get another dealership in the area.
So for those of you looking for some deals... well I'll be there tomorrow.:cry :cry :cry

The first question I asked was if they were not making money and the reply was "No, sales have been steadily increasing."
Then, when I asked what the reason was, the cryptic answer was "Why do most business' go out of business?"
That's what threw me for a loop.
I figured it is a sore subject so I stopped asking and asked to look at some Hyper-Lights (great deal).
The mood in the store was understandably somber.
Are there any 'shops' that service old K's in NW IN ?

1> you can tell by the atmo, that the real reason isn't going to be widely broadcast. I have suspicions, no proof.
2> Rumor is one of the certified mechs is going to have a business in service. I'll see if he will post details when appropriate.
3> I second Brad on both the good deals and the bad reason for them. I feel like a vulture (creepy).
4> I think it surprised them, the July/August newsletter has ride dates through August.
I hope NA can get a grip on what it takes to have longterm successful U.S. dealers. bye S.B; sniff <<<)))
