Just got a like-new set of OEM engine protection/crash bars on eBay for my 2007 R1200R and am looking for the installation instructions. I'm sure I can figure it out, but want to know the torque values and any special precautions. Searched high and low on the 'net, but no luck. Any of yoos guys know where I can find it or anyone have a photo of these bars installed on their R12R?
Who makes the bars?
The SW-Motech instructions are on line and I still have the instruction sheets for my Hepco & Becker bars.
I don't know of any other types. If it's H&B I'll email you a scan of the sheets. It has torque values.
The SWM has a loop that protects the cylinder head from all directions. the H&B has a cross bar that connects the bars on both sides of the engine.
I think both kinds require you to remove one of the three bolts holding a subframe to the engine. I'd recommend you finish one side before you remove the bolt on the other side. FYI, you need a T55 to do it. Also FYI, use loctite blue.

If your bars are TOURATECH brand - their instructions are on their web site.

BMW now offers OEM engine protection bars for the R12R. I think that's what the gentleman is referring to.

If you need torque values you can do a search of the bolt thread size on here and I'm sure some outfit will give it to you. Most metric has the values in Nm which is no big deal as most of your good torque wrenches have both asme and Nm.

Can you tell me where can I get a look at these?
Thanks in advance.
