I've been snoopin around for a retired RT-P for months. Haven't found a one here in the Big Apple....Seems to me they're all rolling around in your neck o' the woods.. I did find one on ebay up there in Washington state,(condition unknown) but I had noone to look er over.....Plus, the shipping from there to here......+- $700....Worth the gamble? Nah... So here I sit like a one eyed cat peeping in a seafood store....How about Hollywood Motors in Canoga Park? He's got a ton of rtp-'s....just wondering if he's reputable. Anyone have any dealings with him? He's on ebay, but doesn't answer emails....What's with him? Hey...thanks for stopping in!

Both Washington and Oregon sell their old RTP's on ebay also. Have not seen any lately for Oregon, but Washington has 4 listed currently. Their screen name is washington-state-surplus. Shoot, some of them have pretty low miles too.

I bought mine from Hollywood motors. I saw it on ebay and "won" but it was below the reserve. I called him up and made an offer and he took it. I made arrangements to fly down and ride it home. The son picked me up from the airport and assured me it was all ready and in tip top shape ready to ride. It looked good, ran good, so I paid the balance and headed off. As soon as I was a block away it was bucking like a bronco at the state fair, I determined it was the dreaded surge, once on the freeway it ran fine. 60 miles later heading up a 2 lane canyon road it started bucking again, cutting out and who knows what all. To make a long story short I limped back to Ventura where I met a tow truck that he sent out and got dropped off around 11 Pm at his shop. Next day the mechanic and myself worked on it till about 6 PM when I left for home again. I think they replaced the Hall Effect Sensor because from everything I've read those were the symptoms. I don't think I can blame them but I was miffed that I had to spend an extra day there. The mechanic ran the battery down trying to keep it running and therefore the ABS wouldn't work so they told me I could hang until the next day and we'd take it to the BMW dealer where they'd reset it. I said I'd do it at home and of course needed the ABS twice on the trip home due to a police pulling out in front of me and a bad fog bank in the Sacramento area. The mileage was fairly crappy on the way back to Washington and after I tuned it up to my liking I gained about 5 mpg and it has run pretty decent since. I do have a longer write up but this is basically it.
