hello, is there any way to tell what the jumpers in leiu of the cat code plug on my 97 r1100rs are actually doing? i purchased the bike through a middleman so i can't ask the previous owner. there's 57k on it, it has a remus exhaust, with cat and o2 sensor. i'd like to eliminate the erratic performance between 3700-4300 rpm and increase performance, but i want to know exactly how it is set up now before i start changing things. there are two jumpers connecting three points. is this mimicing a chip or is it a way of bypassing certain components? would appreciate any responses, thanks, smitty

this (http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/R11inj-surging-fixes.shtml) isnt your answer, but may be a good lead for you. it's written by a fellow named rob lentini, and it has his contact info. he seems to know more than the average bear about these sorts of things.

Before you start fooling around with the jumpers, do a real, real, real careful TB synch and valve adjustment. The valve adjustment is more important than you might suspect.
Find OVAD in the Advrider.com Hall of Wisdom and follow their process.
This really does work.

After 5 years of tuning my R1100R and R1150GS; I completely agree with Kbasa's comments....
Learn how to tune it up yourself and you will never need to "add anything on to make it run better"..
You will however become sensitized to having the bike run "near-perfect" or not being happy...and my experience says that this requires a tune up more often than every 6,000 miles to keep it purring and smooth...
