Hello
I have a 1982 RS, also 1982 RT. Both have Reynolds centerstands. While I am not especially thrilled with those centerstands, I really dislike the stock sidestands.
So, does anyone have either a Farley or a Brown installed with a Reynolds? Or do they interfere?
Thanks

I believe there can some some fitment problems. See http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/FarleyBrown.htm

On the link, it appears they mount up in the same spot - that long rear mount stud under the tranny.
But the Farley is longer: I am wondering if the Farley doesn't then angle out slightly greater. This would seem to alleviate at least some of the clearance problem with the Reynolds.
I wonder if people have used a substantially longer stud back there, with a spacer, to offset the stand out to the left?

I got around the interference between these stands by drilling and tapping a 5mm hole in the Brown's sidestand where it stops against it mount and installing a stud. When I was happy with the fit, I loctited the stud in place.

Been thru this before. There many arguments for or against the stock stands.

Myself, I prefer to be able to pull a wheel off to fix a flat anywhere. With a rideoff stand that is impossible unless you can find a chunk of 2x6 laying on the side of the road exactly where you got the flat. I would rather not have to carry a piece of wood with me on every trip.

Also, the stock side stand was designed to raise itself autmagically (safety feature), and when deployed puts the bike at a good angle to not allow high winds to blow it over. And it does not interfere with anythng. You can do a very minor alteration to the side stand so that it does not automagically retract, if you are so inclined.

If I were you, get rid of the Reynolds centre stand and put on the stock one. I purchased a brand new one last year year on Fleabay for $75. And keep the stock side stand. That is the best combination. They work perfectly as they were designed.

Not this again... haha.

I have the Reynolds on my R75, it came with it when I got the bike.

No road/shoulder is perfectly level. You're never more than 4 feet from a dip that you could use to your advantage.

Contrary to popular internet postings, just because I have a Reynolds on my R75 doesn't mean I'm completely helpless in the event of an emergency.
