2002 1150 gs electrical anamoly

Engine running. While in motion or standing still. Side stand down or up. Problem:
I apply the brakes the tach falls to 0 and the battery light comes on. Then I rev the engine both problems dissappear.
Also shifting to neutral causes same problem as above.
The battery light flickers fast as well when it is on.

Starts fine.

Is there a short? Bad battery?

Sounds more like a bad connection than a short.
I'd look for a corroded ground.
If it cranks well and starts you can eliminate the battery.

Check and replace Fuse #1. My bet is that it's open.
