I just started my '94 R1000RSL for the first time in a month. It started right up but I noticed a screech/clanking noise for a second when it did. The bike is on it's center stand with the rear wheel in the air and it was moving. The neutral light is on and I can stop the wheel from rotating easily with one finger. I tried clicking it in and out of neutral but it continues to spin. Is this right?
The bike is new to me and it's my first BMW so I don't have a lot of experience with it.

The rear wheel slowly turning while in neutral is not a problem (someone else can explain what's happening). Not sure what to make of the "screeching/clanking" however.

The wheel will spin when the engine is running and the bike is on the center stand due to the drag in the transmission. The gear oil has considerable viscosity and will imart the rotational force throguh the transmission even though it is in neutral. More so when its colder.
The noises could be any number of things depending on where they originated. A possibility for the screeching is the altenator belt. The clanking is harder to guess at without better information.
