I am planning a summer trip from Salt Lake City to Wisconsin on my R1200GS.I plan on using only non freeway roads.Does anybody know how to find a list of inexpensive motels in Wyoming,South Dakota and Minnesota that are located on the back roads? Thanks. Ed

That's a tough one. You should move your question to another forum to get broader visibility. The hexhead community is only a small part of the MOA and still fewer of us can read. Perhaps the ride reports or campfire forums.

Two links worthy of bookmarking. Thank you! I checked them again less expensive motels in this area and the results were, "right on the money."
Anyone know of comparable links for Canada?

Use caution. The Motel guide Belton TX listing is a dump.

What has worked well with me is to sit down with my GPS (Garmin Nuvi 350) and enter selected cities along the routes I intend to ride.
Then let the data base find motels within an expanding radius of whatever town you are 'virtually exploring.'
Since phone numbers are also provided, a few calls can confirm rates.
Good Luck and Ride Alert!

Pull one of those pop-up campers and latch onto Walmart lots. :D
If it's not permitted, there seems to be plenty of RV's you can hide behind.

The really frugal chose to camp. I prefer the motels where you park outside your room and walk in. Cheap or not, but mostly cheap.

I agree, but these motels are getting harder to find.

By having older, cheaper bikes I can afford nicer motels.

Too bad all you oldies aren't in college.... I did a road trip a year and a half ago, staying entirely with friends who started school before I did. Cheap as can be, and you are immediately popular when you pull up on a bike.
