Gas tank Mod!

how high can we drill on the intake tube on the Gas tank? for the more gas in the tank trick.

It would be best to remove the filler neck from the tank before drilling, then you would have a better idea of how high you can go. But remember that when you do this, you no longer have as much vapor space for expansion of the gas. So if you're in the habit of filling to the rim before you park the bike, especially in warm weather, be prepared to come back to a bike with a puddle of gas underneath. Also if you still have the charcoal canister connected, it will become flooded and the bike will run pooly, at least until the excess gas is burned.

I would only be uping the level on cross counrty trips!
Seams I was looking for gas as soon as it hit 200 miles.......want to look for gas @ 250
Some say I can get 250 now! .......but I dont trust it. So was thinking of someway to get it to a 250+ MPT

bdWhere do you ride that fuel stops are > 200 miles apart? I (and my butt) don't want to go there!

Safer to stop more frequently. There's no virtue in pushing further just because you can.

I ride late at Night ........almost ran out of gas out side of flagstaff .. it was 4am.
Thank God the Gas station left the pumps on for CC 's even though they were closed! . Late at night sometimes it gets iffy on gas.
So if your not doing days of 1500 miles plus. I guess its not a big Deal!
But if I can get 40 more miles to a tank it gives me options.
Thats all. I guess if I was crossing the counrty to see the sights. it would be another storie!
I know lots of rides have thier way of going about thier Fun !
I like when the road is all mine!
I ride alone.
I just want to max out my MPtank... thats all!

I drilled mine 1/2 way up the neck.
Great mod as long as you observe the warnings.

Not sure if it applies to your model but it works great on my GS.
