We have a 2002 R1150R that has the tiny bag on the left side. We considered buying an exhaust from R1150RT with the low muffler. I read about people who have taken the muffler off and just put on a chrome exhaust tip. I started the bike in the garage with the muffler off. Even my wife, who hears everything, didn't think it was too loud. Will the engine run too lean with the muffler off? Should I rejet?:whistle :ca

Most people who change mufflers fail to realize that the muffler is only 1 part of 3 that lets you bike run right.
if you change your muffler you also you also HAVE to change you air flow and your fuel intake.
unless of course you like you bike to back fire.
needless to say there a lot of back firing Harleys out there.

Check the MOA flea market. Seems that there is always some used exhaust being sold there.

Absolutely no problem. Lots of folks just use the CAT as the muffler and put a chrome turn-down on it.

I see you're in Ontario; I'm in Alberta. I've got a new ( well, 1,000 km on it) stock R 1150 RS exhaust system sitting in my garage. It will clear the full size System case. PM me if you're interested.

i've seen it done before, not sure the pressure and flow characteristics change a whole ton if you remove the muffler. a techlusion may be in order but i doubt you'll have to go with new air filters/filter plumbing.
