I have a 02 K1200RS and I have wonder about polishing the wheel or, maybe having the wheel Black Chrome plated like the wheel on a BMW M3 car is.
I like that look on that car wheel alot. So, any tips or things you all have done, let us all know....thanks....

Just personal opinion, but I've seen polished wheels on a K1200RS and thought it gaudy, whereas the back wheels combine visually with the black tire and look "fat" and disproportionate to my eye. BMW offered black wheels in the late '80s on some bikes and I never liked the looks of them. Here's a shot of a very polished K1200RS on display at the Lima rally.

Probably too much polish work on that bike for John Fogerty, too.

You have to admit that that eagle sticker is pretty cool, though.:dance

Yep, nice paint, and Jeff, you happen to have the correct flag.
But back to the original post, while I know nothing about chroming, polishing or any of that, I think the polished wheels look way better than the black chrome. But, I have never cared for the blacked out wheels on cars or bikes, though I know it is very popular for others.

Gosh,
If you feel compelled to have stuff to polish just buy a Harley or a Wing.

One of the reasons I chose a new RT over a Street Glide is to be a little different. Most HD guys put all of the same things on their bikes. Chrome. Chrome. Chrome. They are all the same. Polished wheels on a BMW would definitely make it different than most other BMWs. Kudos for wanting to express yourself and be just a little bit different.

On the other hand, polished aluminum is going to be very hard to keep shiny unless it's a trailer queen. Try having them powdercoated your favorite color or powdercoated with the new "chrome" colors. They are very durable and getting close to real chrome shine.
