Inserting a link

When inserting a link how do I rename the link so it is not so long. On other forums I use the link function has you copy the link click on the insert link icon and copy the link. It then comes up with a second prompt to name the link. It does not work that way for me here I am using IE7 and Firefox Help please.

Two ways...the software on this site will automatically truncate the link. On the screen it will show "http://www.website..........com" or something like that. The extra dots in the middle is part of the truncation. On the screen it isn't complete, but when you click on it, it will take you to the correct website.

The other way is to use something like tinyurl at http://tinyurl.com. Enter the long link and it spits back a smaller, or tiny version. Copy that and paste it into your post.
