Wanting a signal canceling on my RT I bought the recommended SM-5 unit.
Following the instructions I found the relay and had it out ( BTW the pic they use in refrence is upside down in orientation. Threw me for a little bit).
I ran into my current lack of RT knowlege as I am still new to this ,for me , high tech bike.

They show a jack on the top for the brake input option. Kisan also gave a short wire w/ a molex connector on it and a little splice on wire clamp and mention the brake wire as grey w/ white stripe.

It isn't on the bundle to the BMW jack. Where can I find it close to the fuse box and how do get to it?

I put one on my 2003 Rt and it was a two step process, step one pull out old, step two put in new.

I don't recall anything else. It also made my turn signals into running lights.
and you could set it for different lengths of time before your signals went off.

I did the same on my 1200 C with no problems. It did also come with a pigtail attachment which can be used for some other cases with the brakes I believe. I choose not to set that up as I have another gizmo LED thing for my brakelights. EZ plug and play type of deal with the kizan. Like it alot. I have it set up to have the turn signals on at half power running lights too.

I want to add the brake option that lets the signals flash as long as I am grabbing the brake lever and ignore the timer.
For this I need to tap into the brake light wire w/ the molex connector on the small lenth of wire they give.
Therefore I need to find out where on the bike near the fuse box I can do this.

I ran the wire to the tail light and did the connection there. If you remove the two thumb nuts and drop the light assmembly you will see the correct wire.
good luck!

I tapped into a brake light wire right next to the electrical box on my '99 GS. I am not familiar with the wiring layout on the RT.

Way back in 1978, I had a Yamaha XS11 with a turn signal cancelling system that would shut off after elapsed time AND distance were satisfied. There was also a manual cancel feature. All that accomplished with a single button! Besides being a great convenience, I felt it was a significant safety feature as well. When I am dodging Buicks in the traffic, I don't spend a lot of time scanning the dash.
Almost thirty years later, my beemers were made with nothing but manual canceling, and it takes three separate switches to manage the blinkers.

I connected to the brake wire in the tail light area on my 04 RT. I had to splice some wire into the wire supplied with the SM-5 in order to get it to reach. The brake wire seems to be too well concealed anywhere near the fuse box.

Same here for my '04RT. No need to tap into other wiring in the brake circuit.

The sockets on top of the unit are for plugging in aux. turn indicators for your mirrors. (VectraLight VL-10)

and the center molex jack is so that the turn signals keep flashing w/o timing out as long as the brake is held on the SM-5 unit.

Ahh, yes, now I remember...not taking the time to hook this up! It's a really good idea. It's a pain to sit and wait at a stoplight and have to keep checking if your left turn signal has self-cancelled. It doesn't immediately go off when you release the brake does it? Maybe stays on for the remainder of the self-cancel time you've set?

+1 I had self canceling turn signals back in 1982 with a new Yamaha Seca 750.

I did the same. Works great. Wire should plug into the middle outlet on the SM, when I got mine it was plugged into one of the side ones and did not work... Their 'support' set me straight...
