Curious if anyone else has this condition on their RT. When bright sunlight hits directly on the digital display (even if the bike is turned off) for ~30 minutes, the display fades to the point that it is very difficult to read (very low contrast).

Took my bike to the dealer yesterday, technician looked at it and said a lot of them dim or fade in direct sunlight. The dealer went ahead and contacted BMW who told the dealer to order a new instrument cluster and replace it under warranty. It should be a week or so if the instrument cluster is available in the US.

I have not seen anything on the forum about and was just curious if mine getting dim is typical?

Mine did that once when parked in direct sunlight on a hot San Antonio summer day. After I started moving, and things cooled off, the display returned to normal.

This happens to mine every time it is in direct sunlight AND heats up. When it's warm to the touch from the sun, it is dim.

I just figured it was some drawback of an LCD screen. It always goes back to normal once it cools down.

Not sure if it is typical of an LCD screen, but my digital watch will do the same when left in the direct sunlight. When it cools down it is readable again. My RT did that one day when I parked it so that the setting sun was directly on the LCD, even though it was turned off it took a while to become readable. It was rather faint until then. It had been parked several hours. No real problems since then.
