I trying to find out what model tires were originally installed on my 2000 R1100RS. I have metzeler roadtec z6's that were on the bike when purchased and I need a new set. Would like to use originals unless advised not to.

Where does one find that info, not in user manual, etc.

Thanks

not sure what came stock- but your request about them raises these questions:

why are you interested in going to 8 (9?) year old tire technology? advances in tires have been the singularly most important element in improving motorcycle performance over the past 40 years. and those improvements are incredibly rapid- measured more in months than years.
you do realize that whatever came stock is very possibly unavailable, or at least has been superceeded by a highly improved version?

and this one answer: never look back. it's not a vintage sized tire, so you have numerous options- with nearly ALL of them superior to what was OEM in 2000 (MEZ4?).
"best tire?" is probably THE most asked question on any m/c forum (followed closely by "best oil?"). at least you asked the question in a unique manner. use the search function- you'll be inundated with responses, in a matter of seconds.

My dealer in Daytona Beach and a member who is on here who is on my zuki forum says the Metz Z6's are the ONLY tire for the r11xx's,
as in the best for them.

being new to BMW bikes I took thier view to heart and got them just after I bought mine.
The're doing me fine.
Didn't hurt also that they had buy rear get front free ;) :laugh

"only" tire? pshaw, hogwash, balderdash, phooey and H E Double hockey sticks No!!

a "good choice? absolutely. a "better than many options"? sure.
other populars are Michy Pilot Roads, PRoads2, Pirelli Diablo Stradas, Conti RoadAttack or SportAttack, Metz MEZ3, a few different BStones (but they won't go on my bike) and the new(ish) Dunlop RoadSmart.

again- a search and some reading will tell you more on specifics, so you can make YOUR best informed choice. what meets your needs perfectly may only somewhat fulfill mine.

oh- and if you can get a hot deal like the BOGO, that can elevate a tire from "decent" to "perfect" in an instant.

Best for who, the dealer (as in highest markup), or best for the customer (define best) or best for the machine (again define best),........my best for both my 96 R1100rt and 04 r1150rt is a metzeler 880, front and rear. (I'm getting 15,000 to 18,000 miles out of a set) Of course your best may be different.:brad

As I write this, I can not run downstairs to look but don't most BMW's come with a sticky label somewhere listing which tires were certified for use on that particular model bike ? Did you look at the under seat label that shows the allowable tire pressures ? I'm not sure what good knowing what tires were recommended 9 years ago will be however.
