My previous bike was an R/6. For maintainance I would use my overhead hoist to lift the bike. It was great and took up no floor space (as in a bike lift). I now have a R1200GS ('06) but can not figure out how to lift this bike using my hoist. Has any on figured out a safe and convenient method of connecting a lifting device to a current generation R series?

Marty - how did your hoist connect to the R6, and were you lifting both wheels off the ground at the same time?

I used 1" bar stock to make a "V" shaped hook. To lift the bike I would remove the seat and slide the hook into the open end of the frame member that runs under the tank and hook this onto the hoist. With this setup I would lift the entire bike up to eye level. It really makes working much more enjoyable.

If you need more info just let me know.

Did you tie the bike somehow to keep it from moving around?

Do you have any pictures with the bike hanging. Sound interesting, and somthing I might want to try.
