I'm at my wits end trying to wire up a pair of FF50's on my 1100GS. I bought a driving light wiring kit from Eastern Beaver & i'm using an illuminated rocker switch to turn them off & on. I tapped into the parking light bulb wire in the headlight shell to trigger the relay & got everything hooked up temporarily to make shure it all works right & when I turn on the ignition, then hit the rocker switch, the driving lights come on then the parking light fuse (15amp) blows. The 15amp fuse in the wiring harness is ok. So to be clear, here's what i'm trying to acheive:
Switched power for driving lights & the ability to turn them on & off with an illuminated rocker switch regardless of high or lo beam. Hope someone can help before I kick the dog.

There should be 4 wires from/to the relay:

1. 12v to relay from fuse from battery
2. 12v from relay to driving lights

These two carry the current from the battery to the lights.

Then to energize the relay:

3. 12v from the parking light to the switch to the relay coil
4. from relay (coil) to ground.

If you have #1 and #3 reversed you will be trying to power the lights from the feeble parking light circuit. That sounds like what is happening.

I don't know the relay wire color coding that Eastern Beaver uses - but if you can read the pin numbering on the relay:

30: +12v from battery
87: to driving lights
85: from parking lights to switch to relay
86 relay ground

Thanks for the reply. The reason I got the Eastern Beaver is because what you describe above is already wired up in the kit so I don't need to figure out what wire goes to what pin on the relay etc., that & it's well made with quality components. However, I found the problem. I had the three wires to the rocker switch mixed up. I feel like an idiot for not snappin to that earlier. Thanks again for tryin to help.
