:violin Yeah, I know it's a fact of like with the '93 K1100RS, but I was just wondering if anyone has come up with a good fix! All I see in my side rear view mirrors is the bar end and my hand..... Considering how well the rest of the bike is designed, it's strange that was allowed. The bike does have the spacers between the mirror mounts, to push them out about 3/4", which I am sure helps. I tried a few fish eye stick ons, but they are pretty worthless. Has anyone come up with a good fix? I suppose handbar mirrors on stalks are the only thing that works, but they sure would look wrong! :ear KC

stick on some small convex mirrors from K-Mart, placed in an area that is blocked by your arms/shoulders anyway.
on my R11S, but the idea, and result, are the same.

Do a web search for Hercules blind spot mirrors. Made for cars, but work great on bikes like yours. I've run them on my K100RT, with no problems. I trimmed them down a little to fit my bike. Since your having the problem your having, I would put them on as is. They mount on top of your mirrors. They will stick out about an inch past your mirrors. One of the reason I like this mirrors are that they are large enough to give a good full view. I never trusted the small blind spot mirrors.

Not sure why, though I am longer above the waist than the average for my height, but the mirrors on my '93 were never really a problem once I got them adjusted to view just below the bars and sort of above the bags. I know I always have the right one adjusted for traffic in the adjacent lane and/or the fog line and then the left to watch the traffic behind for the most part. I used a Top O the Line tail set up and that always put my gear just above my view line. If that slopped over and down, I was blind. But play with the angle a bit if you can. The spacer is a VAST improvement over the '85 , even with the wider bars.

I have seen some in the '93 range that had the bar-end mirrors because the rider's body and the bike ergos just did not match up other wise. I have use those on other bikes and they work quite well, though they may be susceptable to vibration since that means removing one of your end weights.

Thanks for the input and experience..... I did try the small mirrors shown, and didn't care for them. Of course, beggars can't be choosers. My K mirrors are not mounted as shown. The bigger Hercules mirrors look like they will actually give a decent image, so I will have to give them a try. I had thought it would be best to continue the outboard movement of the mirror, to get enought rear view. Has anyone ever tried a mirror on the end of the existing mirror? It would certainly be in harms way hanging out that far, and vibration would also be an issue I suppose. KC

The Hercs are quite convex and have German optics - so provide a good broad view to the rear. Tip - available on eBay for cheap.
