Anyone out there have experience with using a Gerbing liner with the Accessory Plug on the F800ST? I bought one (Gerbing liner) at the Motorcycle show in Dec, here in Seattle and finally got to try it out for the first time today. Did not seem to work right! Any Ideas?
Have a "Accessory Plug on BMW Motorcycles" that I am connecting to the red lead on a "Portable Temp Controller". I hook this using the white lead on the "Portable Temp Controller" to the Liner. There are two male and one Female plugs on the Liner PDU and when I connect the white lead to the center male plug I get a red LED light on the controller, but it doesn't seem to heat. When I connect the white lead to the right (closes to the zipper) male plug, nothing, but according to the Gerbing site this should be the plug to use.
Any ideas would be welcome.

The accessory jack is shutting off from too much current drawn (over 5 amps for most new BMW bikes. Try using the battery connection that came with the liner for it. I use it that way and also works great for charging the battery. You are correct in connecting to the jacket socket closest to the zipper.

Cjack, Thanks that is what I was suspecting was the issue. This especially when I read something on the Gerbing site referring to "... though most newer models require a direct connection to the battery", the the section on "Accessory Plug on BMW Motorcycles". I will try that and see if it works, and let you know if that solved the problem.

Jack, could I change the fuse for a 15 amp fuse for the accessory Jack? Would that work, or is the system limited to 5 amps?

There are no fuses.

In doing some reading I guess that is because of the CAM Bus used by BMW. After reading the responses to a similar post I put on the F800.org site I have decided to use the harness that came with the liner. Thanks all for you input!

CAN bus. Controller Area Network Bus. :D
That jack, the size of a Powerlet one, is not Powerlet's. Powerlet makes a replacement one that would not shut down the Canbus, but needs to be wired in when the other one is taken out. I received a nice, but curt dissertation on this when I called them about this on my former F800S, about a year ago.

The 5 amp draw limit is kind of a joke, for a power outlet, so what was BMW thinking for their power acces. plugs? I rewired mine to the battery directly, with fuse interupts and this is good to go:). I think, but not certain, the plugs were intended for battery charging cycles only and the new BMW battery chargers that draw very little amps. A very narrow minded approach with all the accessories of todays world that are plugged in. Randy:thumb :usa

The BMW heated vest draws less than 5 amps, so that was probably the basis of their decision. :dunno

We had to wire it to the battery on my girlfriends F800S to avoid the CANBUS issue.

I Just finished the wiring of the Gerbing Harness to my battery. It was nice to have the liner working immediately heated up, lovely. Thanks for all your advise.
