On the 1991 K100RS, do you have to loosen up the exhaust system to remove the rear wheel?

Thanks

No. Look at the muffler; there's a small cutout so you can tilt the wheel around the muffler. You will need to remove the brake caliper, though.

Owner's manual should give U a step by step procedure for wheel removal.

My '93 was a pain due to the muffler being closer than intended? I would do what I do for my K12. Placed it on the center stand on a good 2"x6" and then it was easier to get the wheel to drop out after removing the brake caliper. This helped get it past the mudflap, and the flap extension piece was simply removed to avoid issues.

removing the rear mudflap/fender extension is 2 nuts (inside the tail-light housing) and one phillips head screw (under tail light somewhere, i don't recall exactly- but you access from "exterior" of bike). once removed, wheel removal is much simplified. and is easier than yanking muffler. as stated, a large board under c-stand to get some extra ground clearance is also helpful.

I've found that letting all the air out of the tire also helps a lot. It's a simple solution when things are tight, and makes a difference on my Kbikes.
