I wonder whether a new F800GS (in yellow and black) would make a good two-up tourer....
The hp and torque figures sound on the low end of reasonable for me (150#) and my wife (130#). We bang around on a K75 all the time, and I've toured on it (albeit solo) for a week.
We wouldn't be spending our lives on he road on the thing, but we like to head out for a day of two-up riding, a few weekends a month, and about once a year on a 5-7 day tour in the summer. The rest of the time I'd be using it to commute, scare small children, and tear up fire roads with backpacking gear.
I was at a dealer this weekend, and Motorrad has some very nice looking panniers offered as an option. I could see a top box and backrest too.

The 800 does bog down a little 2 up just like the K75 does. Somthing that is not as noticiable with the larger bikes.
The seat is the biggest problem I have with the bike. The first thing I would do is get rid of it. The Toutrech seat is a big improvement that I have used, but I would like to see what Rick Mayer could do. I have used 3 of his seats in the past and think they are great.
If your main bike to date is a K75 the F800's are wonderful replacement. They are everything good about the K75's but lighter and better brakes.

The Yellow & Black F800 would probably not be as good a touring bike as the gray colored bike. :dance
The F800/F650 have more HP and torque than the air head R100 bikes plus they are chain drive (lose less power than with a shaft) and weigh less than those bikes. :usa
I would suggest the F650GS for two up touring. The F650GS develops more HP and torque than the F800 from 0 rpm to approx. 5,000rpm. The low rpm is where you need the power two up and when you want to pass. :thumb
Paul and I toured two up on a Yamaha RD 250, so of course you can.
It did help to be young and dumb :brad but it was great fun!

Having sold my R1150GS and bought a F800GS (which I really like) I think I'd be happier on a R1200GS for two up touring.

Of course Dave is mistaken, as everyone knows the yellow and black F800GS's are the fastest. :nono
