I am wondering what my options are for mounting handlebar mirrors on my K100LT?

I feel I am not able to see behind me as well as I should be able to see with the stock fairing mounted mirrors, they are not mounted wide enough apart and the converging point behind me is quite a ways back, creating a blind spot.

I have seen on the micro fiche, round mirrors for the K100/75. Are there any other models of BMW bikes that will fit in the provided holes on the existing hand controls? I am interested in a rectangular set of mirrors to add to the existing fairing mirrors. Something like what is on a K1200RS of the 2000-04 era.

K100 mirror set is about $76 +shipping from Chicago BMW, but they are the round style.

I believe that is a pretty standard mirror stalk sized hole. You should be able to find many aftermarket styles as well as the style you spoke of. I have an '00 RS and it has the round ones, but my buddy has an 04 GT and has the rectangular. Each has its benefits, but yes, they should be a direct swap to yours. Just be sure they don't hit your fairing, I believe that is one of the reasons that bike does not come with them, so you may need to look for a stalk that comes up only a little before bending over at a greater angle than the RS stalk.

There is also an aftermarket model that was designed to mount onto the faring upper of the RS (Verholen?) that might work for you as well. See Pirate's Lair
Good luck.

I have been looking at aftermarket mirrors, and so far, nothing with a shank of approx 1 1/8" long then threads (M8) like the K100/75 mirrors have. Most of the parts diagrams that I have looked at do not show the mounting shank that is required, most show a short threaded shaft.

This is why I was asking what mirrors are known to fit the existing holes/mounts on this model.

I do agree about the stock and how I have to be careful and not get one that will limit the handle bar movement at full turn.

The standard K75/K100 mrrors fit your handlebar perches. The question is whether they'll clear the fairing's mirrors. There must be a set of used "standard"" mirrors you can try. Find out the price of a new one and watch ebay or IBMWR.
