Does anyone know if the new twin engine uses the same cylinder lining as the oil head does. Trying to get a feel on the longitive of the engine. I put a lot of miles on and want a long life engine. Is the oil change a dificult task being a dry sump engine.:usa

If the oil change procedure is like my '03 F650GS, it is not difficult; it's just a PITA

You would never know the F800 has a dry sump unless you opened the engine up. The sump is a chamber directly below the crank with the oil separated from it by a baffle to prevent parasitic drag as the crank rotates. It's one of the ways they're getting over 100hp / litre displacement out of the engine.

Oil change is just like any wet sump engine; pull the drain plug and external cartridge filter, replace both and fill with oil. Easy as can be. (The F650 single is a PITA by comparison)
