Sure is quiet in here...
The Mrs and I are looking at trading (upgrade? downgrade? retrograde?) our RT for an 800ST. I hope that the quiet here means that everyone is totally in love with their bike. And that problems are nonexistent!

Not sure I can ever bear to part with the RT. But I'd like to get my wife to test ride the 800GS with me for some mild dirt road riding, and a smaller, lighter bike for general use.

It appears more are posting at http://f800riders.org/forum/
My wife bought an F800ST this year and loves it. It's quick, nice handling, gets great mileage, looks and sounds good, and has a comfortable seat!
The only trouble we've ever had with it was the Exide battery, it just "up and died" without warning. That doesn't really reflect on the model though.
Definitely worth a test ride:thumb

I know what ya mean. We love the RT but most of our trips are 2-3 days. And we avoid the freeways and main roads like a bubonic rat. And while its pretty good in the twisty stuff it really is too darn big. I'm also getting a bit tired of the relatively high maintenance schedule the boxers require. Besides...for once in my life I'd like to buy a NEW vehicle with all the bells and whistles from the start! And you can't beat a rotax power plant!
Considering the complaints from the back when we went on short rides on my DR650 I doubt the GS will fly...But I've talked her into talking one for a quick ride this weekend:thumb

I think the ST is a GREAT bike. We just added an S to our stable. I think if BMW was smart they would make a F800RT to replace the K75RT. The light RT has been missing from BMW's light to middle weight line up for too long.
The F800GS is what I am drooling over as of now. I like the wide bars and more upright position. Plus, it goes like a bat out of hell. The 800's will never take the place of the big twins or quads as far as two up or heavily packed bikes. They are, however, great for flying solo and letting the Dragon eat my dust.

I am the new owner of a F800ST and am terribly pleased with my bike. Nice sound, very good power, and wonderful ride round out a great bike. I am very happy that BMW is starting to move back into middle weight bikes...as I appreciate over 60mpg when I am at highway speeds.

The F800GS is what I am drooling over as of now. They seem to be readily available now. There are both a grey and a yellow at my local dealer. And a used yellow GS in California with only a couple thousand miles on the clock was just posted on the For Sale forum of the F800 website. Stop drooling and go get one! :P
