If you guys don't mind I may tag along for the ride..... there are less and less riders in Toba each year, as the insurance seems to take it's toll.

You mean like this? It's about 45 minutes SW of me. We supplied paint and specialty coatings for all 6 seasons. Still strong rumours of a full length movie but Brent is doing another project out of Vancouver right now.

Looks we are starting to see a little more warm weather.... spring is on the way..

Are any of Sask./Man. Riders planning spring run ?

There are some KLR riders I know that are already putting some thoughts together as to which ride to take first.

Is there an offical BMW get together in the area, or is Alberta the nearest one ?

As far as I know the Lunatic Fringe rally is the only one planned that is anywhere close to us. Our chartered club does day rides in the riding season. I'm planning on some weekend camping runs in Northern Sask.

Squiffy, what happened to the little get together that used to happen at the Findlater rest area. Great food. I was there in '04.

Its actually the World of Wheels show which has some custom bikes and such included in it. The full bike show was in early January. Not trying to disuade you from going, just wanted you to be sure of what you were paying admission for. Doubt ther'll be much BMW stuff to see. :D

Hey MCMXCIVRS, when are you retiring ?

My last day for work is this coming Wednesday and I just tucked the new F800GS into the garage yesterday..........waiting for warm weather now.

I heard retired guys sometimes ride 500 or 600 miles to meet up for hot coffee or a cool beer.

Are you up for it ??????

Um, in about 11 more years.

But I too have a brand new F800GS coming. It should be ready in another week or two. :dance I will be looking for reasons to go riding, and beer or a coffee is as good as any. :thumb Perhaps a Cypress Hills GS weekend is in order.

That sounds like a great location for a weekend ride - as long as RT's are invited as well.

Different Butch, but I'll be at the Alb. rally this year in a group of two ( Steve and I) from Sask. at this point but hope to see it grow in number, my first time and on a 1986 R65 (RT) that was born in Cochrane and the origional owner still lives there and is anxious to see his old bike.

It's over night for me from Strasbourg, Sk but I'm up to it and after this long cold winter coffee is out and beer is in.
I rode over 14,000K's last year (trip to Ont. on my R65) and other trips on other bikes so to out do myself this year invite me and with the OK of the boss I'll be there.

Wow! A Saskatchewan thread! I'm not from Saskatchewan. I don't live in Saskatchewan. But! My wife is from Saskatchewan and we're up there quite a bit visiting her mom and dad (Yorkton). We just returned from a 4-day stay and it was downright balmy (-5C).

One of these days we plan to ride up to SK through ON, but there is that entire trip through Manitoba that is unavoidable...LOL!

I heard a rumor about a BMW dealer opening in Saskatoon. Anyone know about this? I can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere.

Hey Butch, if we can't make a separate trip we could meet up with them on the way to the Lunatic Fringe rally.

jnjbrink, glad you found our little part of the big MOA world. Our first "Wow!". I'm so proud!:laugh

The dealer is Custom Cycle & Marine http://www.customcycleandmarine.com/
Not real well respected around here. Not too enthusiastic about the brand. I contacted them for some parts when I first got my RT, they quoted me wrong parts + shipping. I bought from WolfBMW in Ont., same price, free shipping and the RIGHT parts.

Next time you come up let us know. Yorkton's only a couple of hours from me, a parade escort could be arranged!

Howdy Steve! Well, I'm not sure we really warrant a parade escort (especially in a rental car!) but we'll look you up next time we're in town. We usually spend a few hours in the Queen City, running errands and whatnot, before heading to Yorkton and it would be great to meet up.

Eather way I'll go along, that is unless I'm on one of the other planned trips, but we can get together and work it out.
I'm leaving for Ont. trip the week of the 20th July "solo" (R1100RT this time) and coming back start to mid Aug. and of course the Lunatic Fringe rally (R65RT) everything else is loose.

Take the Yellowhead hwy (#16 )then go even further north, Manitoba is truly a wonderland of suprises, Jane (my wife) and I have biked around there and find it better than Alb; lots of beautiful clear lakes to camp at, many bed & breakfast, not so busy and a lot less expensive. (and you'll still be close to Yorkton)

A quick hello and inquiry for the Saskatchewan riders.. I am in Lethbridge AB and have been in touch with a "new" BMW owner in Saskatoon who has just purchased a 83 R80ST and would like to connect with someone who can give him some mechanical guidance on service and repair on this machine (specifically carbs at this time). Anyone you know in that area who has airheads and might help.. He is not currently a MOA member and I have put him on to internet riders as well as the airhead site.. If someone is interested let me know and I will get your info to him or his to you... Thks

Anyone in the Regway/Minton area? I'm looking for a witness and any lodging/eating info for the immediate area (within 10-15 mi of the border). I will be ending a Border to Border Insanity ride there in August.

Thanks!

It's been a while since I checked up on you Sask Guys.

Hope everyone got some miles on their bike this year.... it's been another stellar summer for riding.... the weather gods have not been great, though I have managed to get 8000K on the GS, doing mostly day runs in Manitoba and one longer trip to Thunder Bay/Northern Minnesota.

If your coming east...send me a PM

Hey Backroader, you're right- haven't heard from you lately, but 8K km, you're in the saddle!
I'm not to your level but I've got about 4K km on the 100, including a recent trip of just over 1K through a bit of MB.
Regina to Flin Flon through Swan River and The Pas, across the top on the Hansen Lake Rd and the S to home. It was a nice solo trip.
Maybe we can meet before the snow flies.

Sounds like you had a good trip up to Flin Flon.... it's nice in that part of the world. I worked there for while, however did not get west of Craighton. The Hansen Lake road was gravel back then and not very inviting at the time.

If you want to meet up before the snow flies it will have to before Thanks Giving. I got bad feeling about fall this year. (Hope I wrong)
