I'm tired of finding out I have low voltage when it's too late. What are my options for an aftermarket voltmeter for my 1982 R65?

Thanks!

While we're at it, I saw in a post either here or in ADVRider that mentioned a dual sweep pyrometer for monitoring temps on the cylinder heads, and it was from an aircraft instruments outfit. Does this sound familiar?

Voltemter?

Here is what most of the LD guys use.

What is most important is wiring it in correctly and that means either to the battery or to a wire in the headlight that isn't current carrying....in other words, the voltage where you tap in should be the same as your battery voltage.

And to avoid having to worry about the latter, I wire my voltmeters directly to the battery and since I use an LCD display that draws 2 mA, I can afford to have it on all the time, even when my motorcycle is parked for weeks.

Yes. You can try Aircraft Spruce and Specialty (http://www.aircraftspruce.com) or you can try Omega (http://www.omega.com).

The problem is where to place the thermocouple. There are those that look like washers that fit under the spark plugs. I would assume they replace the stock spark plug sealing washers so that the spark plugs protrude into the head as they would with the stock washers.

You might be looking at the WT Bolt-On Series (http://www.omega.com/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=WT&Nav=tema03), Type T.

Aerostitch Catalog and/or website out of Diluth,MN. has a few voltmeter arrangements that look cool. They use LED lights in a array, to monitor voltage and it mounts wherever you have a place in your cockpit. They have more than one type in their catalog and you should look see. I use a voltmeter with needle, very standard type of meter and its probably the best gauge I ever added to the bike. My only other is an oil temp gauge. Also, any auto shop has voltmeters for sale and they all are straightforward to install to anything with an alternator/battery. The ones I mentioned above are probably the easiest to install, by Aerostitch. Randy:D
