Does anyone have suggestions on how to mount a GPS unit on a K75S (1993)? I haven't researched a lot but most mounts appear to mount on handlebars or center post and these areas aren't accessible as far as I can tell. I am brand new at this. Thanks for any advice.

I share a Garmin 450 Zumo with my F650GS, my cars and my K75S. You can buy the handlebar mount kit - it may even come with the GPS unit.. I bought a second mount on Ebay and Amazon - I had to buy the bar mount one place and the unit itself that the GPS mounts onto from another.

Based on a suggestion from JD in our group, I wired it up to the starter relay under the seat and under the plastic cover - if you don't know where it is, you can use a voltmeter to find it - it is always hot when the battery is connected to your bike.

I mounted it on the left handlebar - it is a great "tool" but don't count on it to always be predictible. It always gets me to where I'm going and when set on off roads takes me down some neat dirt roads on the F650GS but sometimes it would had been better if I had a map and just stuck to the route I wanted to take on the map - I like the map because I have a mental picture of where I'm going. If you just set the GPS from Point A to Point B you're not as well mentally prepared.

I know I gave you more than you asked but that is my story on how I mounted the GPS.

Oh yea, one more important MUST - make sure you have a fuse on the hot wire - I almost burned my house, my bike and got killed because I let an unfused hot wire break free from the connector, touch the frame and started smoking like you would not believe. I am EXTREMELY LUCKY. Always run a fuse!!!

Good Luck!

I'm interested in this as well. I have a K75/2 and with the dash pad there isn't much extra space to mount a GPS or Sirius. I have a K75c front fairing and use the suction cup when I need to, but it's not something that I would rely on for extended rides and it's already fallen off twice.

While this was originally setup for a Garmin GPS-iii, then a GPS-V, it was later adapted to a Garmin Quest, and finally to a 2720. Bending the part the GPS mount attaches to so it was past vertical (tilted fowards a bit towards the headlight) allowed using Garmin GPS mounts with it.

Worked fine. Still being used on a friends bike now..

I sit mine on the tank bag. I cut a hole in the clear part, slip the bean bag under it, and snap it in place. Works well for me.

That is a great option! Too bad the ignition for the K75/2 is top center of the dash pad.

I use a RAM u-bolt style mount on the left side of my K75S bars for my GPS III+.

Just enough room to do so and it works perfectly for me. I can adjust the position for best visibilty when I use my tank bag.

Also installed the Garmin hard wire cable (fused) directly to the battery terminals (although I plan to install a Centech AP-1 fuse block very soon).

Don's center mount is a nifty way to go, too. I might make up such a mount for my radar detector one of these days.;)

Too bad the ignition for the K75/s is top center of the dash pad.

But it isn't. The ignition switch is at the left bottom of the dash pad, under the three rocker switches which can be seen in the pic. The piece held by the two bolts with red washers isn't the dash pad, but the plastic cover above and forward of the dash pad.

Aren't the C and S dash pads different? My pad has the ignition at the top-center with the rocker switches along the bottom.

Oops, my mistake. I meant K75/2 not "s".

Here is a photo of a standard RAM handlebar mount for a GPS on a K75S. To do this you need to trim about 1 inch or so off the end of the dash pad. Having the GPS where Voni wanted it was more important than having a pristine dash pad on a 17 year old bike.

Here's my K75C with a ram-mount. Really easy mount job. Running a garmin power cable from the relay box under the tank means I can take off the mount and tuck the cable under the dash-pad for day to day use as well. Good luck!
