You may have seen this on the web or a friend sent it to you in an email. The idea is a good one for a couple of reasons:

1. I am always searching for my car keys because I neglected to hang them up where they belong when I first enter the house. Maybe bedside is better but then I will surely forget to place them there.

2. Some of our members, not me of course, are getting a bit older and hving a method of summoning assistance would be helpful. Two of my bikes do have an alarm system.

3. When we are traveling the key fob could provide an extra alarm system.

Not sure how to reword this for a motorcycle touring tip but it might help some members who are traveling on four wheels.

Tip was sent to me by REDRIDER.

PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a suspicious noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:

The car keys are a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around... After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there .....
(and it might help you find your car in one of those big mall parking lots during the crush from now to Christmas).. RedRider didn't say that, my own addition)

Pass the hint along to "senior citizens" that might find it useful.

My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

It may not fit Touring Tips but it could save a life or some need time.

Speaking of Touring Tips the bottom of the jar is in sight. While you are seated rigght there at the computer how about passing along a Touring Tip?

Best to all,

Paul

I did this a few weeks ago when some evil kitty was howling right outside my bedroom window in the wee hours of the night. The car is right next to the shrubs outside the window, so it was a close blast. Didn't help a damn bit (evil kitty laughed and kept howling), and I woke up the neighbours who live just across the driveway.
