Any ideas on how to remove the battery tray on a '96 GS without having to extract the ABS control unit? I'm trying to clean the tray of acid corrosion and would prefer to do a complete job rather than just what I can see on the top. But the tray extends under the ABS and Motronic unit. It's all nice and lose after removing the screws and wires, but I really don't want to have to remove the brake lines to get it out.

Thanks!

I am 99.9% sure it cannot be done.

So whoever knows that .01% possibility please speak up.

I think you can do it by bending one of the sides down, but that kind of defeats the purpose. I've messed with them before trying to do that and it's just as easy (for me) to time it with a brake bleed, evacuate the system and just pull the ABS unit out. But that's with a pressure bleeder to refill the system.

Make sure you clean/rewrap the main harness where it touches the battery tray on the left side. That parts tends to get pretty ratty. The 1150 has a thick plastic wrap there to protect the wiring from the corner of the tray.

Oh well, it doesn't hurt to ask. I guess I'll just do what I can now and leave the rest for the dealer at the appropriate time. Thanks for you input.
