1982 R 100 with electronic ignition. Not an RT.T.or /7. Just a plain R 100.
I have two coils, black with dark red ends, with a lightning bolt on the side.
Some forums, and some dealers say that they are 12 volt, some say that they are each 6 volt. I need to replace both.
What gives? When looking for parts the 1982 R 100 sometimes it is not even listed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Ben

The 6-volt coils are for pre '81 bikes. Check out Rick's page at http://www.motoelekt.com/ignition.htm.

Since you have electronic ignition, I would think you have one coil with two outputs...these are 12-volt.

If the coils are wired in series they are 6 volt.
