I never thought of it, but it is quite a constructive tool! I don't know if I should laugh or be horrified? Any reactions out there ... ?

So lemme get this straight. A motorcyclist, pissed that an OLD MAN in a van was going too slow for him, stole the guys keys from his ignition and left him stranded at a stop on the road? WTF?
Road rage is road rage. Couple that with theft. The rider was dead wrong.

I used to be a prick like that when I was in my teens. Then one day I was 43 and my parents were 80. Now I go out of my way to give older folks a bit more room and courtesy. Helping the older folks get where there going quicker and safely keeps everyone moving.

Oh crap!
I'm just positive that the news reports of a motorcyclist stealing the car keys from a 70 or so old man just gave the whole community warm fuzzy feelings about all of us motorcyclists.
The poor motorcyclist just couldn't figure out how to get around the old guy in the van.

It was not clear how police concluded that Furler was the rider. Police obtained a warrant for Furler's arrest on Nov. 13 and are still trying to contact him.$10 says that Furler told all his idiot buddies about it, and one of them ratted him out to the fuzz.

Actually this seems to be more and more prevalent. I tend to drive slow in the slow lane. At 65 in a 65 people are always flashing headlights and honking at me. Twice this month I've gone onto the shoulder to escape aggressive tailgater's. It's a sign of the times.

And until our law enforcers decide to enforce laws other than speeding - I nominate tail gating as a start - it will continue.
LEOs like to have evidence other than "he said - she said" to back up their citations. Thus the widespread use of radar. But with in-car video cameras getting widespread use having a visual piece of evidence is stone simple. All they have to do is want to.

One of my favorite statements from Click and Clack the Car Guys on NPR is that you can drive as slow as you want in an old car because everyone is amazed that it's going at all. I'm looking for a '35 Chevy that hasn't been turned into a hot rod, although in another ten years I'll be happy in a Model T. ;)

Based upon stats from the German Autobahn, I'll bet one could make a convincing case that tailgating is inherently more dangerous than speeding. 'Course, I guess it depends upon how fast. I often wonder, in my little car (which seems to attract tailgaters like the plague), if they just don't understand basic physics.....like which can stop quicker, Porsche or Chevy Pickup?

You should care much more than they ever will.
I try my best to stay out of everyone else's way.
I expect the same from them.

If the Chevy is tailgating the Porsche, then they will stop in the exact same distance . . . once. :eek

I personally think the AH biker was lucky the guy didn't pull a gun and waste him. And the driver would have probably gotten away with it as a possible car jacking.
One thing about age, if you're lucky enough you will live long enough to be there one day.

The article already listed the violations the motorcycle rider committed. Frankly I hope he does some time. It takes a real big "man" to beat up on an old person. He certainly needs to learn how to manage his temper.
Tailgating as a means of trying to enforce your own version of the law is both stupid and dangerous. If you can't figure out how to pass a slower vehicle perhaps you need to turn in your keys. Tailgating on a motorcycle is beyond stupid and should be classified as attempted suicide.
Traffic is a temporary situation and doesn't have to be a bad part of your day. Get a life, start earlier if you need extra time to get to the destination, change your route, learn to manage your time better and take life easy.

And here I thought Canadians were all so "smooth".
I wonder, he must have jumped off the bike to do it, otherwise how would he "dekey" the car whilst mounted on the bike?
