Maybe ask your local shoe repair guy? They dye leather all the time.

I lost the bid anyway, I think it was a good thing I did. Still look for a two up seat and cowling for the S-bike, so I can trade out when my wife is in the mood.

If you put leather dye on the seat be sure to wear black pants. It works, but some of it will come off over time. Sorry you missed the seat. It would have been great fun at tech days.:stick

I haven't tried it but I've seen many positive reviews on BMW and Porsche DIY sites.

For future reference, here's my method: clean the surface carefully and well with acetone. Clean it again. You'll probably begin to remove some of the original dye. Go out and buy a small bottle of Behlen's Solar-Lux NGR wood stain. if you're the sloppy/gotta-get-it-done-right-now kind of person then mask off the areas you don't want to slop on. Put on a pair of exam gloves. Pour a small amount of stain into a small yogurt or tuna fish container (eat the yogurt or tuna first). Take an artist's 1" or so bristle brush and begin to apply the stain to the leather. Work quickly. Let it dry, check the leather and re-apply if you see any streaks or brush marks. Let it dry overnight then apply a good leather wax or preservative. The dye will eventually wear but since you've done it once you can always do it again. And, the next time you won't need to go through all the cleaning. Just apply the stain/dye.

Good luck.

Shoe repair stores sell Black Leather dye. I've dyed leather brown boots to black and never had any problems. Additional dye can be added as the leather wears.
