1983 R100RS, I have the big ugly hard to get to oil cooler valve, can I and what year did they change to the smaller restrictor valve that lets oil circulate all the time.
I don't trust mine, and I don't need it closed here in Texas. And I would like to have a bit more room in there for filter changes.
Ideas ? Locations where they might be available ?

This is the time for me to do this, since the bike is down for a freshening.

Thanks in advance!

Go to the "R100GS" fiche at your favorite website. Adaptor plate is a direct replacement for your thermostat - will work with your hoses and bolts. Also get the 4 crush washers. Can order thru your BMW dealer - these were in NJ when I did this.
Take it REALLY easy on those hollow bolts.

Thanks for the quick simple fix !
I knew about the difference, but did not know it was an easy swap.
