If you have developed significant play, you need to replace the bearings. Chances are the outer bearing is destroyed and the pivot pin might be also (it tends to happen). You need to apply heat and remove the pivot pins. Once new bearings are installed (if needed) and all traces of threadlock are cleaned from the swingarm and the pins, coat the threads with Loctite (BMW calls for 2701), tighten the fixed pin to 150 Nm and the adjusting pin to 7 Nm. Locknut on the adjusting pin gets 105 Nm.

Thanks a lot for the info.I won this bike at the national. It's a retired chips bike with only 40 k on it.Didn't expect anything like this since these bikes suposed to have had good service while out in the field.I wonder about that .Cosmetically she's a real gem.Anyway the play I found was about 1/32 of a inch at the outer perifery of the tire when pushing from left to right.I adjusted the play out off it but was not sure what tourque to apply.I only snugged it up.Thanks again and the next thing I'll get is a manual.:clap :clap
