so my new find appears to have a "battery issue"- battery gets superheated when charged off the bike, just barely passes a load test, and won't hold a charge on the bike for any length of time. New battery time, right?
Have searched all around (here, advrider, etc), and can't seem to find any strong consensus on best battery options- i'm leaning toward a PC680, with a current best price appears to be $110-$120.
thoughts?
TIA.

Those Odyssey batteries are excellent. I put one into my Harley, loved it, so just did the same with my BMW. I'm sold - they go into all my rides henceforth.
I got mine from www.batterymart.com. They seemed to have the best prices, but it's always worth checking around.
Good luck.

Just checked batterymart's price for that battery -$121 if you order over the net, something better if you call. That was the same with the last battery I bought, and the savings was about $10 by calling.

Thanx on that source. Is that shipped? I found the Odyssey for $118 shipped, here http://www.absbattery.com/cgi-bin/nitrocart.cgi?command=add. I also have a local price of $110, but it will require a 100 mile round trip ride for pickup.
anyone with experience with the Westco sealed AGM battery? Have found those available here http://ebatteriestogo.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EBTG&Product_Code=12V30
I also found this one from batteriesplus http://www.batteriesplus.com/pc-33718-59-Xtreme%20Permaseal%20High%20Performance%20AGM%20Mo torcycle,%20ATV,%20Powersport%20Battery%20-%20XTA30L.aspx, and i can pick it up locally.
Just looking to check out all my options first.

paul- any experience with the Westco sealed? who is your dealer?
can batteries be effectively compared just using CCA and Ah numbers, or does something else go into the equation (asuming appropriate physical dimensions, of coure)?

I have not personally used the Westco, but have talked with many riders that have and they are very happy with them. I have also heard good reorts about the Panasonic batteries. It may be the same unit with a different label.

My Wesco is going on it's 3rd winter..........When I plug in my lil BMW battery charger it almost always starts blinking the 80% charged signal and within a bit goes to the full charged light. This is after sitting for maybe overnight or 3 weeks...........Dennis

Dealer is Hammersley BMW, Lynchburg, Va. I have gotten 4 years out each of my last two batteries. Actually, my batteries have treated me pretty well - the one on my 86 R80RT died in my garage, just 1 week before a 1500 mile ride to the Finger Lakes in NY, and the other on my 76 R75/6 died just a half a mile from home as I was heading out on a 400 mile day.
Hammersley said he no longer carries BMW batts, but now WestCo. Didn't ask why or why not.
