And once again ol' man winter puts a grumpy spell on the forum so.....

lets BitchMoanand Whine constrcutively rather than pull each other down.

Black ice and frost bite and bad charging systems...

Snow storms and wind gusts and poorly made mittens..

Batteries that fail at the drop of a hat, these are a few of my least favorite things...

Water getting a bit stiff here.

It's been nearly 20F above normal here; 50F during the days and it's still 47F at 10pm. Motorcyclists are still out every day. We've only had one day of rain in weeks. Even Halloween was nice. I usually pray for bad weather to keep down the number of kids; they get trucked into this neighborhood, we get nearly 90 kids usually. It was 50F and we only got about 30 kids. I think the rest were out terrorizing their own neighborhoods.

I did get out the snow shovel, though, that should get things moving towards winter. After all, it needs to get cold enough to kill the bugs.

I just got back yesterday from a 4300 mile trip across 7 states and didn't see any rain. The coldest temp I can remember was in the low 40s, but it didn't last long.

Winter?

Motorcyclists are still out every day.

Wow.

In Missouri, I haven't actually seen another rider on the road in.. probably a month, and I take the twisty backroads!

Riders are getting thin here in the DC burbs but still see Beemers and HD's with the occational goldwing thrown in for good measure. Had our first dusting in VA with a foot of the white stuff 70 miles west in the hills of WV.

26 this AM on the way in to work.. 40 for the ride home! That will almost be sunbathing weather! (for polar bears anyway!) :lol

What's everyone talking about? Forecast here is high-60's/low-70's all week.

Sorry . . . my bad. ;)

:nyah

I was in San Antonio in 1981 when they actually had several inches of snow. I think as soon as the forecasters mentioned the word snow folks started going out and practicing having an accident. Loop 410 around the city was a disaster (there was no loop 610 back then).

Of course the moral of the story is...

Snow could happen to you.:bolt

You're absolutely right (although San Antonio and Houston are pretty different when it comes to "winter" weather).

Every seven years or so we get a "blizzard" in Houston. Sometimes pretty near a half an inch of snow accumulates. Shuts down the airports (no snow removal equipment) and causes all kinds of mischief on the highways.

I generally just stay off the roads for a couple of hours until it melts . . .

You need to move to Arizona. Great riding year a round and no bitching or moaning allowed.

Chris Ledoux has a song called "$5.00 fine for whining" . In the video for it he calls Garth Brooks a sissy. He must have been talking about Arizona. Fun stuff.

Two nights ago we got enjough snow to cover the ground, but the grass blades were still sticking up through it... so maybe 1/4 inch or something. I had to scrape my windows and take the truck to work. It was good that I did - the roads in the neighborhood were slick, and there was ice running down the center of the highway between lanes. It melted by lunch, at least.

This morning... low 20's. Any water has become a solid. I drove, again. I HAVE ridden in colder, but I was tired and I have nothing to prove.

It's been pretty decent here til the last few days, but I've put a car into storage, so I have my garage spot back for my daily driver. No scraping in the morning, so I'm happy. And the insurance saved on the stored car just about covers the storage cost. :)

It's just about time to start grumpin' about Christmas. :hide

Its 20deg below normal here in N FL right now. Long johns under the Draggin Jeans, a baclava, good jacket (Olympia), and gloves make the 24.2 mile round trip to work and back home a snap. My knees (arthritis) would require some type of heated pants for extended riding in cold weather thats for sure. I find it easier to dress for cold weather than the high heat/humidity we have in the summer.
Ride Safe :D

Rode from Portland, Maine to Bethel (same state) yesterday: distance, about 80mi. The temperature was around 27ºF. I had a heated jacket liner which is a godsend. But the most important article was the '99R1100RT. That fairing is amazing. So is the rest of the bike.

Properly dressed it is better than riding 90 degree hot weather.
