I need to know how wide of space I would need to have accomodate the width of a K1100LT or a K1200LT. I am looking at model years from 1999 to 2005.

So how wide do these bikes measure from mirror to mirror?

I am setting my goals for the purchase of a used BMW and want to know if the width of the LTs is greater than 41 inches. I currently own a 1998 R1100RT which can enter into a 42" wide opening. I am trying to decide if I go to a LT or stay with the RT models. I will keep the 98 RT and am trying to decide if I set my sights on comfort for the passenger or stay with the RT series.

Thanks for your measurements.

So you would just need a slight angle to get it through the door....maybe a little tipping to one side then the other, then straight on in.

:D I would stay with the RT, if it were me. Don't currently have one, but sure did like the ones I had. My 2 cents worth. Of course I know nothing about the width issue!

What about a K1200GT? BMW shows the width at 38 inches.
