there was a great shot of schummi in this week's cyclenews, standing next to troy bayliss in portugal, congratulating him on his championship.

I didn't save the pic but he was an invited guest when BMW was testing the street verison of the S1000RR

Both.

For a noob he posted very competative times in a German national series SBK series. His big problem has been pushing tire adhesion to far and low siding on a fairly regular basis.

The promotional side is huge. Bike racing is generally a young riders game but Schummi is about the same age as Bayliss. It would draw fans that love AND hated him as a F1 driver. The former what to see him win the others want to see if he can turn a low side into a high side.
