the latch that locks one of my side cases into place on the bike has develpoed some play so that the case can be lifted a little off its mounting points. Not so much that it will fall off the bike (yet), but maybe enough that hitting one good pothole might loosen it up enough to come off.

Is there a way to adjust the mounting clamps to take the play out?

I suggest using a lockpin to retain the cases. It's a nice way to avoid them ending up on the hwy. You can get the specifics @ the www.r1150r.org forum with a search. Basically you drill a 1/16th hole near rear pegs and case ear and insert a lock pin thats very similar to a large safety pin.The pins are found in a hardware drawer @ Home Depot(not Lowes). In spite of the directions I mentioned , I'll ad that I was able to drill my holes without removing any bike parts .

Wrap a little duct tape on both mounting points and you'll see that your bags will tighten up..

This is a tip I picked up in the Touring Tips column in the ON

This is a simple modification on an R1150R. I have done it and I highly recommend it. However, it is difficult to do on an R1150RT due to the fairing, and I haven't figured out a way to do it nor how to get to the pins if the holes are drilled. Perhaps someone has been successful and can submit pictures.

I take it that there isn't a way to get into the clamping mechanism to adjust it.

My bike is a 2002 RT, so I'll have to see if there's a good way to work with the pins. Otherwise I guess I'll go with the universal fixit material, duct tape.

Thanks for the suggestions.
