Well after 20 days and numerous phone calls BMW has decided to replace my gas tank with a new one. I am getting the new style tank and fuel pump flange that uses a large plastic nut to mount the flange to the tank. I may have to buy the fuel pump flange @ $207 but that is still in the approval process. At least the $400 tank is covered.I would like to thank Rich @ Roman Cycle in Austintown,OH for going the extra mile for me to make this happen. I did not buy this bike from him and I know this took up some of his time to do this for me. I am planning a trip to ride along the Hudson River 7/12/04 and hope to have the bike ready by then. Dave the parts man at Romans tells me there is not a fuel pump flange in the U.S. so it has to come from Germany. I hope it will arrive soon. My RS is a 98 and out of warranty and the tank was paid for by( Good will money by BMW).
