Transmission smell

My R1150RT transmission has a hot/burnt smell to it after a ride of an hour or so. Is this normal? Seems like its been there the last 8,000 miles....

Probably not the transmission. Probably a small oil seepage onto the catalytic converter.

Can you describe the smell? Does it smell like burn't clutch? Electrical? Oil? If it is low on oil? burned gears have their own odor. Have you touched the transmission when you noticed the odor? Maybe some varmits have invaded your bikes nether regions. Mice like RT air cleaners.

I think that's the most plausible explanation. It's not an electrical smell - either oil or clutch I'd say.
