Time for new tires, looking at the Michelin Pilot Road 2's, it has the Pilot Road's on now. Bike is new to me, and I've always liked the performance and durability of the Michelin's on my cars. Are they the best for an RT?
Also, I'm MILES away from a BMW shop. Any issues with having a Kawasaki/Yamaha/Honda or similar shop swap them out?
TIA

do a search on tires or PR2s or whatever to see the plethora of "my favorite tire" threads.
BMWs require a "special" spacer for balancing. you might want to call to see if they can do it. alternatively, buy a Marc Parnes balancer for about $100, and DIY. Should pay for itself in a few years of tire changes. Add in the tire changer from Harbor Freight (search in this forum, it's been talked about before) for another $100 or so (2 tools required) and you can do your own changes complete. MoJo blocks would complete the package- maybe $250 total investment, and you are your own tire changing machine, completely independent- a Total DIY!!!

I got 12,000 on a set of Pilot Roads and switched to PR2 and got less than 10,000. In fact, I could not see the wear indicator and when a dark rubber line forms in the center of a PR2 you have about 200 miles before the cords show themselves. I've gone back to Pilot Roads. I got similar wear on my 1150 when I had it.

I am running PR2's on my 2000 r1100rt, and love them. Some say you get less miles out of them, but for me the handling is second too none. They grab and hold the road better than any other tire I have ever had. So I will take a few less miles for the performance...and they are still reasonably priced.

Thanks for the great feedback!
Found a guy locally, after talking with a few people, that can do BMW, and he is very reasonable.
I'll report back on the mileage, sounds like 10-12k is the average for these and their very sticky!!
Ready to ride.
