2002 R1150 RT R.I.D.ot working

:dunno The first time the display went out it came back on after turning off the engine then turning it back on.. It reacted the same way a couple of times later, working after shuting off the motor and turning the key back on. Now I cant get it to come on at all. I checked the connector, it was well seated. I hope that it is something simple so I can do it myself, I'm a BMW rider that is on a small fixed income and hoped not to need to take it to the dealer. Can anyone help? Patrick Highland.

Hey Patrick don't despair.

The bike still runs fine right?

The RID is probably OK because it works sometimes. My bet is that you have intermittant power to the RID. If you have a meter you can verify power at the connector on pins 4/5. GND on 4(BRN). Power on 5(RED).

Fuse #3 is involved. My diagram shows fuse #3 also runs the turn signals. Do they work when the RID is out? If not, there's your problem.
