I am currently evaluating a replacement battery for my 2002 GS and wonder if anyone has done so on theirs and what manufacturer and model they found worked for them. I want to get another one that I can maintain a charge using my current BatteryTender and would prefer the conventional 'wet' kind. I'm concerned about matching the 3x6 3/4 x7 inch dimensions too. Thanks in advance for any input.

I've had to replace the batteries on both my 1200 LT and 1100GS with in the past couple of months. On the road, I bought a Yuasa 51913 at Iron Pony in Columbus OH to replace the five-year-old Yuasa in the LT. The Yuasa 51913 in the GS went TU in the garage with a bad cell after 3 years. I replaced it with a 'Bike Master' Yuasa clone from Cycle Gear primarily because CG is near my house and that's the battery they had in stock.
Both the Yuasa ($105), and the Bike Master ($70) fit perfectly. Maintenance free Panasonic LC-X1220P and Odyssey PC680 will both fit. The 1150 GS battery tray is very similar to the 1100, and IIRC most 'modern' BMW's use the same battery spec.
BTW the batteries that were in both bikes were Yuasas installed by BMW dealers.

This is an AGM (fry cell) battery with tons of cranking power. I've had mine for a little over a year and, and the piece of mind not worrying bout electroylte levels is worth it alone. Last year a tree fell on my bike. It layed on it's side all night and no worries from spilled battery acid.
Highly recommended.

I'm a believer in wet cell lead-acid batteries. If your vehicle(bike/car) doesn't boil them dry and you replenish the fluid with distilled water then they will graciously accept more abuse than they deserve. They also give lots of warning before failure.
I don't think the make matters. Get the biggest one that fits and soldier on.
