My previous bike was a 1998 R1100R. During the winter months I just plugged
in the Yuasa battery tender into the accessory plug and kept the battery charged
that way. This worked my previous bike for seven years, at least five of those
years I had a Westco gel cell battery. Now I have a 2004R1150R. Will I be able
to use the same method to keep the battery charged as I used on my 1998
R1100R? I think the battery in the current bike is the original battery which
is a BMW gel cell battery.
Thanks in advance.

no difference in major electrics between your previous and current bikes. some concerns (possibly) exist for the Canbus system hexheads, but that's not your bike.

Or you could just bundle up and continue riding the bike through winter and be a Rounder! That would keep the battery up.

(And no comments about my home being in Texas.... it gets damn cold here in the panhandle..... and windy and snowy too).

Do both! Run direct leads to bike from the battery to keep it 100% charged. This will ensure that you make the meeting and ride with fellow rounder.

If I have time and energy enough, after work, to be a rounder I won't even
have enough money to pay for gas for the bike to ride when the weather
turns nice. (G)
Thanks for the input though.

Based on what was said in the earlier posts, can I assume ( for those times where I just can't make the ride during the winter) that I can plug a battery tender into the accessory sockets of My 2002 R1150RTP to keep both batteries fully charged, as oppose to, wiring one directly to both batteries. :scratch
I believe one socket is powered by the main battery and the other socket is powered by the secondary battery.
