OK, I just went over 95K miles on my '02 GS. Quite frankly it has been as reliable as sunrise. The thought occurred to me that I might as well hang on to it until 200K. That got me to thinking about going on long trips, and what I should carry for spares. I don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere waiting for three days for the UPS man. I currently carry a spare fuel filter, throttle cables, alternator belt, and HES. I recently bought a big-ass bearing (with seal and o-ring) for the final drive. To round out my spares, I'm thinking about getting a fuel pump and a clutch slave cylinder. Now I'm starting to wonder about a driveshaft. I have room in the Jesse bags, why not? How much does a driveshaft weigh?
In short, here's my list of spares:
fuel filter
throttle cables
alternator belt
HES
big-ass bearing
Here's what I'm considering:
fuel pump
clutch slave cylinder
driveshaft
What else? I know it sounds like overkill That being said, I have room, and if I ever use even one of those items it will be worth it.
