I just picked up a set of used motolights for my 04 R1150RT, they were dirty as hell, 1 cracked light bulb but they cleaned up nice. I have a set of Hella's FF50s for nightime light and want to use these as extra be seen lights for the day.
Any of you guys have theese lights and where can I buy some replacement bulbs for them. The Motolight company charges alot for theese simple looking bulbs.

The original bulbs are 35w, 8 degree spot pattern, MR 16 Bulbs. You will be able to find 50 watt 12 degree MR16 spots lots of places - Home Depot, etc.
I have always gotton the longest life out of the bulbs from Motolight - and the original bulbs are guaranteed forever so call Tina at Motolight.

I just installed 50Watt Yellow bulbs in my MotoLights, I got them from a place called 1000bulbs.com they cost around 2 bucks each. These lights really scream for attention, hopefully this will put a end to NitWits in cars pulling out in front of me

Let us know how long they last. Many bulbs are not designed for high vibration.
I've been looking at LED (Halogen replacements). There are several MR16 spots in the 6000K wave length which I believe will hold up longer than standard Halogen bulbs, but at $40 each, you're likely ahead with the cheap ones. (Unless you want to save the power consumption for your heated gear).

Don't count on it. When I was knocked off a Ducati a few years back by an inattentive driver in a Subaru, she told the State Trooper, "I never saw him". Trooper hesitated a few seconds and replied, "No ma'am, you never LOOKED!" His emphasis, not mine, but was glad he replied in that fashion as he asked her for documents to write her up.
But that's really the crux of the issue! I was hit in broad daylight, high beam on, bright red Ducati, and a bright white helmet. We just have to ride like we're invisible, cuz' we are to so many of the careless (carefree) cagers.
Take care! And keep those lights on, ya never know! :dance

I use 50 W yellow bulbs that I originally got from Motolights six years ago. They really do enhance conspicuity. I try to ride as if I am invisible, but I have noticed people doing a double take and not turning left in front of me.
